Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is all about family gatherings, food, and good times. And it’s not just about humans too because we often want to include our pets in this wonderful celebration.
During thanksgiving, pets enjoy food too but be careful because not all foods are safe for them.
Here are 5 foods you should keep away from your pets;
Say no to turkey bones
A small quantity of lean turkey meat is okay but make sure to not include the skin and fat. Also, make sure you keep an eye on turkey bones. Never let your pets have them because they may splinter, get stuck on your furry friend’s throat, block their windpipe, or harm your pet’s digestive system.
Avoid toxic foods
Some foods or ingredients are hazardous to your pet and may even poison them. Some foods or ingredients during thanksgiving that are potentially toxic for your pets include (but are not limited to) butter and other fats, scallions, garlic, chives or onions, candied stuff, chocolates, raisins, grapes, and currents.
Stuffing
Stuffing usually contains chives, onions, garlic, and scallions which are toxic to your pets. Plus, stuffing usually has butter. A fatty treat to your pet is definitely a big no!
Sweet treats
Sweet treats will never be absent during celebrations such as thanksgiving. So, make sure you keep them away from your pet as they can be very harmful and even poison them.
Mashed potatoes
Plain mashed potatoes are totally fine with your pet but never those seasoned, with butter and added with garlic, onions, scallions, or chives.
Holidays are more special when celebrated with your furry family as well. Just make sure to remember these food safety precautions for them so everyone can be safe and happy.
However, should your pet get sick over Thanksgiving food, keep in touch with your nearby emergency veterinarians right away.
