There’s no best way to learn yoga than by doing. But as a beginner, it could be a bit overwhelming; you’re learning new poses, new terminologies, and engaged in a new activity and environment.
The most vital thing to learn is to keep breathing and to stay focused on yourself and what you are doing.
Just keep practicing and yoga will become natural to you, so just do your best, be consistent and remember these practice tips;
Notice your alignment
Whether you have a yoga instructor or you’re doing it at home with a YouTube video or DVD, you have to notice how the instructor aligns his or her body when doing yoga poses. This is very important because you want to perform each pose exactly how it should be done to avoid injury or pain.
Be attentive
When practicing yoga, you have to stay attentive to what the instructor is doing as well as saying because instructors give verbal cues as well that describes how to do each pose.
Have fun
Staying light-hearted when doing yoga as a beginner is very important because it takes a lot of effort, mistakes, and falling out of poses when you’re new in yoga. You must be able to keep your cool because after all yoga is all about relaxing and having fun at the same time.
Know your limits
As a newbie, there could be lots of poses that you can’t do perfectly right away that is yoga requires constant practice. If so, you have to know your limits. If you think a pose is too difficult for you, then don’t push yourself to do it. Just start where you can start. Always remember to listen to what your body is telling you when ding yoga.
Ask questions
As a newbie, you are still in the learning phase of yoga so ask questions if there is something that bothers you or you’re not sure of.
