5 Tips For Yoga Beginners On Their First Class

Congratulations! So, you’ve decided to join a yoga class and your first class will be tomorrow!

Just like going to a regular school, your first yoga class can be as overwhelming. But you don’t have to! Just follow these 5 tips and your first yoga class will as smooth and fun-filled as it should be.

What should I bring?

If you are new to yoga, you don’t need to bring your own yoga mat or accessories right away as most yoga studios provide them for you. However, as you continue doing yoga, it is best to buy your own stuff.

But for your first class, make sure you bring a bottle of water.

What should I wear?

No need to wear fancy leggings or tops on your first yoga class. The purpose here is to wear anything that you aren’t going to be conscious about, fiddling with or bothering about during the class, as this will take away you from your focus and being able to perform yoga positions well.

What if I can’t perform the position yet?

You’re a beginner and we get it! No need to force yourself to perform a yoga pose that you aren’t comfortable yet. Just do what you can do in your first class. You’ll be able to do them with regular practice so no need to rush.

What if others are already good at it?

So what?! There will always be someone in the room who is better especially those who have tried yoga before. But does it mean you should feel intimidated? NO! remember, they are once just like you when they started. So, whatever they can do now, you’ll be able to do sooner as long as you continue practicing yoga.

Wait… that’s just 4 tips. Where’s the fifth?

Thank you for reading down to this part! We keep our promise, so here’s the fifth and bonus tip.

MAKE SURE TO HAVE FUN!

Any first day of class is a chance to meet new people, make friends and have a dose of fun. besides, yoga should not just be relaxing and calming but also entertaining and fun. You must learn to enjoy what you do and it’ll just make things a lot easier.
