Well, hello quarantine days! You surely have the time now and you’re probably already saying a big YES for yoga.
Great!
If you are a beginner and you want to set an at-home yoga practice, it is essential to do some preparation. In order to avoid injury and maximize the power of the yoga experience, you have to make careful preparation and decent investments so you can make practicing yoga at home efficient and super fun.
Here are 7 tips for practicing yoga at home:
Create your own space
Space where you practice yoga is very essential to be comfortable and has very little or no distractions at all. You would want to have a clean and decluttered room with enough space for you to move around and do your poses.
If you have an empty room in the house, you would want to declutter your space first. You can also add in some extra stuff like candles or greeneries just so to make the vibe calm and peaceful.
Invest in yoga stuff
Basically, a yoga mat is all there is that you need to invest in as you start with yoga. Your yoga outfit and all other stuff or accessories can be bought at a later time. Since you’re at home, you don’t need to wear leggings or the usual yoga outfit you see on TV, you can wear anything or nothing at all. Just whatever you are comfortable wearing so long as it allows you to still perform well.
Choose your style
What do you want to experience your yoga?
Do you have some physical limitations to consider?
Consider these questions when choosing which style of yoga you want to start practicing on. The style you choose must be aligned to what you want to feel when doing it and after doing it.
Do you want to sweat a lot or do you want to just feel relaxed?
Avoid injury
No matter how easy or light your yoga style is, we couldn’t say that you are already 100% injury-free as you practice because you are just a beginner and not a pro.
Therefore, you must know your limits and boundaries. If you think a pose is a bit hard or need more practice, don’t push yourself hard. Be gentle. Be easy.
Breathe and relax
Give yourself enough time to breathe, relax and meditate before, during and after your practice. Your body needs time to sense the benefits it has earned through the practice.
Practice regularly
It doesn’t have to be every day as long as you practice regularly. It could every other day or even just once a week. If you want to discover and maximize the full potential and benefits of yoga, you have to dedicate your time and effort in your practice.
Have so much fun
Again be gentle to yourself. Don’t push yourself too hard, Just have fun and enjoy every moment while doing it. The more you enjoy yoga, the more you’ll find reasons to continue practicing it.
