4 Things To Remember To Keep Your Pets Safe During Holiday Season

It’s finally December and you know what that means, Christmas is fast approaching!

So, you’ve probably decorated your house for Christmas already and planned for the celebrations and festivities.

But do you know that holidays like Christmas brings an increase in risks for your pets?

Yep, you heard it right!

So, if you want to know how to keep your pets safe during the holidays, get to know these 4 hazards you should remember:

Food

Holidays mean lots of cooking and eating delicious foods but not all delicious foods are good and safe for your pets such as cake or sweets in general.

Make sure you know what foods are not allowed to give to your pets and remind everybody to not give food to your pets as much as possible.

Also, monitor leftovers and take out the trash after the meal so they don’t sneak in and eat foods that could potentially cause them harm.

Decors

Sure it’s lovely to see our Christmas tree up and all decorated with lovely balls and ornaments, but these could potentially be a choking hazard to your pet. And not just ornaments but all stuff that is small and can fit their mouth.

So, make sure that you don’t allow your pets to roam around the house without your monitor. If you won’t be able to follow them around or at least check on them, make sure to put them in a place where they are safe and away from any choking hazards.

Plants

Fresh plants are the perfect decors to add up to that Christmas spirit but some plants can be poisonous to your pets such as amaryllis, lilies, poinsettias, and more.

If you plan to add any of these festive plants to your decorating this year, make sure you do your research on them first and then make sure that they are out of reach of your pets.

Wires, lights, and cords

Your pets are playful and curious as always, they love to nibble around and play with almost everything they see. And yes, that includes your Christmas lights.

Make sure to unplug wires and cords when not in use and then place them in areas that are out of reach of your pets.

Holidays make the busiest time of the year, but please never forget about your pets. Make sure they are cared for and that their needs are met. Holidays can be very overwhelming, loud, and stressful and to your pet. So, make sure they have a good space where they can relax, and don’t forget to keep them active throughout the holiday season.
