Travel to Japan: Must-Visit Spots in Tokyo City

Planning to visit the Land of the Rising Sun anytime soon? Well, make sure to take the time to explore its capital city – Tokyo. Considered the world’s most populous metropolitan, Tokyo is filled with plenty of must-visit tourist attractions. We’ve rounded a few of them:

Hachiko Statue
Where in Tokyo: Shibuya Station

If you’ve seen the movie Hachiko [or if you’ve heard about it], this is definitely a must-visit spot in Tokyo. It’s one of Tokyo’s most popular rendezvous spots and a well-known tourist attraction. The Hachiko Statue was sculpted by Teru Ando in 1934 and was created in the exact likeness of Hachiko. Hachiko, the dog was still alive during this time and he was even present during the unveiling of the statue.

The status is erected in the exact spot at Shibuya Station where the dog would wait for his master.

Tokyo Skytree
Where in Tokyo: Sumida

Tokyo Skytree offers a lot of things for you to explore. It serves as a broadcasting center, a restaurant, and an observation tower. The tower was first opened in 2012 and it stands 2,080 ft (634 meters). It’s the world’s tallest tower and the second-tallest structure in the world (next to Burj Khalifa).

If you want to enjoy a breathtaking view of Tokyo, then make sure to visit the tower’s observation decks. There’s also a huge shopping complex at the tower’s base.

Sensō-ji Temple
Where in Tokyo: Asakusa

To learn more about Japan’s rich history and culture, stop by this ancient Buddhist temple in Asakusa. Sensō-ji is the oldest and largest Buddhist temple in Tokyo. The temple has a beautiful and quiet Japanese garden while the whole premises have plenty of shops. The place of Asakusa offers a more traditional Japanese vibe, so it’s really a must-visit place.
