The newest update of WordPress, version 5.1, is now readily available, giving users with features for better site developments and site health.
One of the key current features in their newest release is a check to alert users if they are operating with the older, unsupported versions of PHP programming language.
“Following WordPress 5.0 — a major release which introduced the new block editor — 5.1 focuses on polish, in particular by improving the overall performance of the editor. - WordPress warns the administrators that run outmoded versions of PHP
- Determines if a plugin needs a version of PHP conflicting with your site and will not enable installation if so.
Improved Editor Performance
- Speed up the editor performance for a smoother and more responsive experience.
- Improved taxonomy sanitization

- New JavaScript build processes
- Multisite metadata
